Muth blasts “RINOs” in Assembly
As the tax votes begin in the state Legislature, the anti-tax forces are making noise, as expected.
Soon after Monday’s vote in the Assembly to raise taxes on businesses, conservative activist Chuck Muth issued an alert blasting the five “RINOs” — Republicans In Name Only — who sided with the 28 Democrats in supporting the increase.
“Once again, thanks to the embarrassingly pathetic ‘leadership’ of Republicans in the Assembly, Democrats got the gold mine and we got the shaft,” Muth writes.
“Remember this next year: It's not enough to just elect more Republicans; we need to elect better ones, as well.”
With just 14 of 42 Assembly votes, Republicans are once again divided between being “at the table” in budget talks — the choice of Minority Leader Heidi Gansert, R-Reno, and others — and tallying protest votes, the choice of the hard-liners. Since Democrats don’t need their votes to get to two-thirds, it doesn’t really matter what they choose.
In the Senate, Republican votes do matter, and Muth has been just as critical. He even has a Web site, www.stoptheraggiotaxhike.com, devoted to pinning the blame on Senate Minority Leader Bill Raggio, R-Reno.
