National group names Pardee green advocate

Pardee Homes has been named Green Building Corporate Advocate of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders.

"Pardee Homes was among the first production home builders to see the need and the value of a green building program, and its achievements in this regard now span more than a decade," said Eric Borsting, Chair of NAHB's Green Building subcommittee. "They have found a niche in their markets and we commend them for helping to further green while educating the consumer on the value green offers."

The Green Advocate honor recognizes green leadership in a variety of areas. These include bringing green and sustainable building practices to the mainstream, direct impact on the number of green homes constructed, educational and marketing efforts and grassroots activities that aim to help transform the home-building industry.

In Southern Nevada, the builder offers its LivingSmart program at eight neighborhoods, including Rosetta and Serrano in Mountains Edge; Trail Ridge off of Durango and Blue Diamond/State Route 160; Ashwood in Nevada Trails; Montclaire in Henderson; Riverstone in North Las Vegas; Solamar in the northwest valley and the newly opened Solstice in Aliante.

"We are deeply honored to receive this body of work recognition from NAHB," said Mike McGee, president and CEO of Pardee Homes. "The Green Advocate designation acknowledges a tremendous investment of time, effort and painstaking learning by our workforce and our sub-contractors, suppliers and consultants."

Since 1998, Pardee Homes has built new homes incorporating additional green and sustainable measures, particularly with its award-winning LivingSmart program, introduced in Las Vegas in 2003. Pardee made a commitment company wide to building LivingSmart homes.

LivingSmart meets or exceeds local, state and national standards for green home building. It offers more than 30 included and optional green features, materials and systems that boost energy efficiency, save water, improve indoor air quality and encourage material conservation and the use of recycled or sustainable resources in new homes.

"The LivingSmart brand is core to our success as a builder of green homes, and as a green advocate," said Pardee Homes' Vice President of Marketing Joyce Mason. "Its features are viable, practical and understandable, enabling us to deliver green measures that are within buyers' means while adding to their awareness and knowledge of the many benefits of green."

Pardee sales office hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday. For additional information, visit pardeehomes.com.
