Native Las Vegan selects Distinctive Home in Canyon Estates community

Shawn Eiferman is an entrepreneur, musician, father and fiancé. He grew up in Las Vegas, knows the city well and owned several houses before buying a Distinctive Home in Canyon Estates.

According to Eiferman, when he went in search of a new home, he knew what he wanted including the type of neighborhood conducive for children, energy efficient, environmentally friendly and in the right location.

"First," Eiferman said, "it was location, location, location. (From my home) I have a million-dollar postcard view of The Strip. I could charge admission to our parties.

"But, I also live in a neighborhood that's so quiet that you can forget you are less than a mile from The Strip. You get everywhere you want to go in a minimal amount of time. It's incredibly accessible to everything I could want."

Canyon Estates is located three miles from McCarran International Airport. Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, and Interstate 15 is accessible and Nellis Air Force Base is located 20 miles from Canyon Estates. Town Square and the Las Vegas Outlet Mall is a short drive from the community offering retail and dining choices.

According to Eiferman, he wouldn't live there if the home environment didn't fit his lifestyle.

"The casita allows us to have a rec room for the kids so when I need to use the house for my home-based business, they still have a place to play. So, to work, I don't have to be ejected from my own house.

"You also cannot beat the storage here. It's phenomenal. There's a space under the stairwell -- we call it the 'Harry Potter room' -- where I have 30 guitar cases. The floor plan is also phenomenal. It allows us to have a fully equipped home theater and plenty of room for everyone," Eiferman said.

"I love the 18,000-foot lot. That's a real rarity here in Las Vegas. It's beautiful," he said.

Eiferman said he likes his neighbors. "My kids and I planted every tree -- except the palms -- and every plant in my neighbor's backyard. This is a reciprocal neighborhood and there are good people here."

"This is a great place to live," he said. "The perfect environment for so many things. I couldn't have chosen better."

Priced from the low 400,000s, Canyons Estates is located in the southwestern part of the Las Vegas Valley. To visit, take I-215 south to Las Vegas Boulevard, turn west on Warm Springs Road to the corner of Valley View Boulevard and Warm Springs. The sales office is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
