Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church invites families to celebrate a new season of life during Spring Fling, planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 16 at C.P. Squires Park, in the Village of Centennial Springs, 7530 Nicklin St.

The free event will include music, crafts, games and food.

An Easter egg hunt is planned at noon.

Celtic Gathering and Highland Games planned for April 16 and 17

The Las Vegas Celtic Society plans to host its 2011 Celtic Gathering and Highland Games from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 16 and 17 at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, 9200 Tule Springs Road.

This is the seventh year for the event, which has grown and become a tradition in the Scottish community in Las Vegas.

The festivities include pipe bands, bagpipe and drum bands, Scottish heavy athletics, Highland and Irish dancing, children's games, a queen's court, genealogy, Scottish clans, food and Celtic vendors.

Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for those 60 or older and children 5 to 12. Children younger than 5 are free. For more information, visit

Alien life to be explored
during June UFO seminar

Those interested in extraterrestrial life can attend a seminar titled UFOs: Past & Present, scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. June 4 at the Tahiti Resort & Spa, Tower 5, 7200 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Centennial Hills resident Tracie Austin-Peters, host of the radio and TV talk show "Let's Talk...Paranormal" and author of "Welcome to Haunted Las Vegas, Nevada," is an organizer of the event, presented by Let's Talk Productions.

The seminar will include guest speakers addressing topics such as UFOs and abductions, ancient technology, alien implants and structures on Mars.

Volunteers sought for camp
benefiting kids with illnesses

Applications are available for those who want to volunteer at Camp Cartwheel for children with illness such as cancer, AIDS, hemophilia and sickle cell disease.

The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation offers four days of free swimming, hiking, arts and crafts, horseback riding, games, study and more. Camp is scheduled for July 26-30 at Torino Ranch in Lovell Canyon.

Ask-A-Lawyer program open
to those facing foreclosure

The Ask-A-Lawyer program is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon April 12 at the Regional Justice Center, 200 Lewis Ave. Registration begins at 8 a.m. the day of the session.

Homeowners who are going through foreclosure and have elected foreclosure mediation to save their homes and have questions about preparing for it can receive free legal advice at the Regional Justice Center's Self Help Civil Law Center through a program run by the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada.

Another event is planned for April 26.
