BID TO UNSEAT COUNCILMAN ROSS
THROUGH RECALL FALLS SHORT
A petition to recall Ward 6 Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Ross failed to garner enough signatures to put up for a vote, the Clark County Election Department said Aug. 25.
The failed petition had 1,079 valid signatures but 1,084 were needed, according to the city clerk's office. Twenty of the signatures were removed at the request of the signatories.
The group that launched the recall petition, the Committee to Recall Steve Ross, said it plans to try again in the near future.
Ross' term is up in April 2013. He was first elected in 2005 and was re-elected in 2009.
