Nevada economy gets worse; Democrats assert Lindsay Lohan defense
Nevada's unemployment edged up to 14.2 percent, keeping us firmly No. 1 in the nation for this miserable "honor" (Nevada's jobless rate reaches record 14.2 percent). It's another month of bad economic news that indicates that President Barack Obama, Sen. Harry Reid and Rep. Nancy Pelosi have us on the complete wrong track for recovery.
Yet, like troubled child star Lindsay Lohan who blames everyone but herself for her failures, Democrats take great pains to tell people that this misery is not their fault. The person to blame is the last president and his fiscal policies.
As Harry Reid said this morning: "It took many years to dig us into this hole and we're not going to get out of it overnight."
That's an interesting comment given the fact that Harry Reid's been in charge of the Senate for the entire economic downturn -- Bush and Obama.
But, of course, not one single ounce of this misery is his fault. Nor is it the fault of the Democratic Party's policies, according to Democrats.
But the people know the plain truth: During the Obama/Reid/Pelosi reign Nevada's in worse shape economically than in any era in modern history. It would be refreshing if just one of those characters would take responsibility for their part in it. But that's not how politicians roll. When it comes to accountability, they take the Lindsay Lohan defense -- it's always somebody else's fault.
Through denial, they extend our suffering.
