Nevada Energy Star Partners celebrates 10th anniversary

Nevada Energy Star Partners -- Green Alliance is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The nonprofit organization has spent the last decade promoting environmentally friendly products, practices and services among business and the community.

"What began as an organization with just five partners, Nevada Energy Star Partners -- Green Alliance has expanded into a statewide entity, existing as a connection between green businesses and environmentally conscious professionals, allowing us to provide education and motivation for greener living in our communities to many Nevadans," said Annette Bubak, president of Nevada Energy Star Partners -- Green Alliance. "We are proud of the reputation and influence our organization has in the Green industry and we will continue to be a valuable source on energy topics to both professionals and consumers."

In keeping with its educational approach, Nevada Energy Star Partners -- Green Alliance hosts monthly mixers and breakfast meetings featuring guest speakers from all walks of the environmental industry, as well as distributes a monthly e-newsletter. The organization's website, ThinkEnergyStar.com, offers resources and information for consumers and businesses on green rebates, incentives and legislation, as well as networking and marketing opportunities. The site also offers consumer tips on how to save money by saving energy.

Over the past decade, the group has developed an annual marketing campaign focused on ways Nevada can develop a firm foundation for greener lifestyles and support the goals and efforts of Energy Star . For the past 10 years, the organization has served as a liaison for the national Energy Star program, a joint effort of the Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy, to educate the community on the benefits of purchasing Energy Star homes and products and to bolster green businesses in Nevada. In recognition of Nevada businesses developing green products and services, as well as the conservation efforts of its residents, July is recognized as Nevada Energy Star Month.

"Especially as we approach the height of summer heat in Nevada, it's important to learn all we can about saving energy in our homes and businesses," said Bill Davis, director of communications for Nevada Energy Star Partners. "Conservation isn't just good for our communities, it's good for your wallet too. The economy and a concern for the environment is prompting businesses and individuals in our community to join together to find new ways to save energy."

The Nevada Energy Star Partners -- Green Alliance is a coalition of organizations, businesses, individuals and Green allies all united in one common goal -- to promote environmentally friendly products, practices and services.
