Nevada GOP: Talk about a meteoric rise

Sunday afternoon from Hawthorne to Ely to North Las Vegas Nevadans heard and saw a rare daytime meteor crash to the Earth. It rattled houses, startled people and cows.

About the same time, the Republican Party elected Michael McDonald to head of the state party. It rattled houses and startled people. No word from the cows.

McDonald is a controversial fellow, I guess. Some wondered if he celebrated his election at a nudie bar somewhere. Others just sighed and muttered the GOP could do better — a lot better. Others think he's just the guy to enforce a little discipline. And then there are some (and I'm not sayin' which one I am) who just couldn't care much one way or the other.

It's the meteor thing that gets me. What are the chances of that?

Did God mean to express favor with Republicans for picking McDonald? Or, did She miss him by that much?
