Nevada GOP’s voter registration growing faster than Demos’

CARSON CITY — Republicans outpaced Democrats in Nevada voter registrations last month but Democrats still hold a big lead over the GOP.

Figures released Tuesday by the secretary of state’s office show Democrats signed up 331 voters in August, compared with Republicans who gained 1,430.

Democrats still hold a registration advantage of 96,705.

Statewide, Democrats account of 42 percent of Nevada’s active voters, while Republicans make up 34 percent.

Nearly 18 percent of Nevada voters are registered as nonpartisan. The rest are affiliated with the Libertarian or other minor political parties.
