New releases for week of Sept. 23

There are lots of interesting books being released this week. So those who are tired of reading about home foreclosures, pigs in lipstick and O.J. Simpson, should find something entertaining and distracting.
Popular author John Sandford returns with "Heat Lightning," his second thriller featuring investigator Virgil Flowers of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. A body with two shots to the head and a lemon stuffed in the mouth is found near a veteran’s memorial, another body was found the same way the previous week. Flowers is put on the case and tries to find the link between the victims.
Alexander McCall Smith also has a new book out. "The Comforts of a Muddy Saturday" is the fifth in his series featuring the adventures of Isabel Dalhousie. This time around, Isabel is asked to help a disgraced doctor accused of fraud involving a new antibiotic.
Celebrated author Maya Angelou shares her insights into living a life of meaning in her book "Letter to My Daughter," dedicated to the girl she never had.
