Obama meets with LDS officials, thanks to Reid
Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., helped set up a meeting today between President Barack Obama and the leaders of the Mormon church.
The church's president, President Thomas Monson, presented the nation's president with a set of books detailing Obama's family history. It's apparently a church tradition to make such a presentation.
Reid, the Senate majority leader, is the highest-ranking Mormon to serve in public office. He and his wife are converts to the Utah-based faith, which has many adherents in Nevada.
