Obama received credible intel prior to Detroit terrorism

The Complete Las Vegan recommends for your weekend consideration this Newsweek story on the Christmas Day act of terrorism on the airliner headed to Detroit.

You will note sources say President Obama received intel an attack was possible BEFORE taking off on his family vacation to Hawaii.

And, as you progress through the story, you will see this quote: "Presidential aides are concerned that Obama will somehow be unfairly accused of dropping the ball on the fight against terrorists in Yemen ..."

Of course, readers can make their own judgements about our president, his instincts on terrorism and whether it's fair to think he's dropped the ball in protecting America in the first year of his presidency.

What the president knew BEFORE we all took our families on holiday trips cannot be known by average citizens. We can only trust our government to warn us when they feel it is appropriate. (Can you feel the trust?) According to Newsweek, "intelligence sources" tell a slightly different story than "senior White House sources" on what President Obama was told and how credible it was. That gap in "sources" will be worth watching in the coming weeks.

In the meanwhile, let me tell the Obama staffers who are worried Americans will "unfairly" accuse the president of dropping the ball on terrorism, to rest easy. For those of who think we are in a "War on Terror" (words the president now won't string together) that horse is long gone.
