Offensive tackle from British Columbia picks UNLV

UNLV's football team received its first commitment of the 2011-12 class when Canadian offensive tackle Tom Clarkson (6 feet 6 inches, 290 pounds) said he would join the Rebels.

He said he chose UNLV over Washington State, Montana, Rice and Eastern Washington, and that Iowa State also showed interest. Clarkson said Washington State and Montana each offered him a scholarship.

Clarkson, who is from Mission, British Columbia, attended a UNLV football camp last month.

"I love the style (offense) they run, and I love the campus and the city of Las Vegas and the players I met," he said.
