One liberal condemns the sexism unleashed against Sarah Palin — where’s Obama, Reid and Pelosi?
You don't need the patience of a hunter to see the signs of sexism in American politics.
Hillary Clinton and her supporters raised the issue many times in the primary against Barack Obama. And conservatives have felt the sting of it with the almost constant out-of-bounds derision of the Sarah Palin campaign. In West Hollywood today, Palin is hung in effigy on the front porch of a house ... and the Obama campaign, California Democrats, Frank Rich, Maureen Dowd and virtually all the left media elite have practically nothing to say about it except an occasional snicker and a tip of the hat to Halloween. How pathetic.
So, while I doubt I'd agree with much of anything politically from left-wing Hollywood producer and Clinton aficionado Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, it must congratulate her on her criticism of MSNBC's brutally sexist coverage of this year's election.
"We should stop the demonizing," she said, adding that Democrats have been worse than Republicans as far as personal attacks on candidates are concerned. "It diminishes us," she said of her fellow-Democrats.
Amen. And Amen. But until I see Harry Reid, Obama, Nancy Pelosi, the New York times and Democratic "leaders" join in to condemn the ugly sexism inflicted on Palin, I must add: Shame and shame.
