Opera company’s got something to sing about

Based on its swoony title, Gaetano Donizetti’s “The Elixir of Love” should elicit some musical romanticism this weekend at the Clark County Library Theater (1401 E. Flamingo Road) as Opera Las Vegas performs it twice, on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
The  “opera buffa” (comic opera) stars singers Alisa Thomason, Ross Hauk, Athena Mertes, Valentin Vasilu and Christopher Reames, backed by the Opera Las Vegas chorus and orchestra, conducted by Marek Rachelski.
Tickets are $40 for adults, $25 for students and military personnel. For more information, call 459-6353 or visit www.operalv.info.
