Pardee’s Simon to lead builders
The Southern Nevada Home Builders Association installed its 2015 slate of officers and directors during the Installation and Awards Luncheon, sponsored by CAMCO, on Thursday at the Four Seasons Hotel.
Effective Jan. 1, Larry Simon of Pardee Homes is president of the 330-member trade group; Frank Wyatt of Pinnacle Homes is first vice president; Wayne Laska of StoryBook Homes is second vice president; Scott Donnelly of Cooper Roofing and Solar is associate vice president; Tom Warden of The Howard Hughes Corp., is treasurer; and Ken Williams of CAMCO is secretary.
Simon is director of project management for the Southern Nevada Division of Pardee Homes. He oversees new-home design, planning and code compliance for new Pardee communities in Nevada.
The son of a small contractor, Simon grew up in Las Vegas and the construction industry. Simon joined Pardee Homes in 2002.
“I’ve been in the trenches since I was 12, doing everything from framing, tile, electrical, roofing, dry wall and concrete,” Simon said. “My first job when I got out of the Navy was superintendent of construction for US Homes.”
Simon chairs the association’s Legislative Committee and Codes Committee. He is the past chairman of the association’s Green Building Committee, which developed and launched the Southern Nevada Green Building Partnership, a joint program of SNHBA and the Green Building Initiative of Portland, Ore. This voluntary program directs the efficient use of resources, materials, energy and water, as well as maximizing the indoor environmental quality of new homes.
Simon earned the designation of certified green professional from the National Association of Home Builders. SNHBA is the local affiliate of NAHB. He is serving his second term as chair of the Water Conservation Coalition, a public/private partnership formed by community leaders to help increase water-efficient business practices among Southern Nevada businesses and promote community-wide water conservation. SNHBA is a member of the Water Conservation Coalition.
In addition to serving in the Navy, Simon is a graduate of Chaminade University Hawaii. He earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix, and he is a General Electric Six Sigma Black Belt.
