Pediatrician settles in at Mountain Falls

February was a busy month for the Mamidis.

Not only was Dr. Dheeresh Mamidi meeting patients as a new pediatrician at a Pahrump medical practice and being on call at the new community hospital, he and his wife, Sushmitha, were settling into their new home at Mountain Falls.

The couple, who relocated to Southern Nevada from Galveston, Texas, had begun their home search in the Las Vegas Valley where the doctor was working for a medical practice.

Their home search took a detour to Pahrump when his employer asked if would like to transfer to Pahrump, which is located about 50 miles west of Las Vegas in Nye County.

The young couple said they discovered a home that met their needs at Tramonto by William Lyon Homes, one of nine actively selling neighborhoods in the 1,050-acre Mountain Falls master-planned community.

"We had started looking at homes in Las Vegas and we had narrowed down the area where we would like to live when I received the opportunity to work in Pahrump," Dheeresh Mamidi said.

"When we visited Mountain Falls, we liked what we saw. It is a very well-planned community and we like that it has different neighborhoods, a clubhouse and a golf course," he said.

The couple said they found the perfect home for their needs in the Plan Three model at Tramonto.

They said they liked the kitchen layout and the four bedrooms of the 2,231-square-foot home.

They said they were particularly attracted to their east-facing home site.

"When looking for a house, we were very particular. There were certain things that we wanted when it came down to the home site and the way the house is situated on the lot. This house fit all of our needs," he said.

"Something that we really like is that we have a great view of Mount Charleston from our house. We didn't expect to see the beauty of the mountains when we moved to Nevada. Now we see it every day," he said.

Three additional single-story floor plans are available at Tramonto..

They measure from 1,970 to 2,445 square feet and are priced from the mid-$200,000s.

Mountain Falls offers eight additional active neighborhoods.

In addition to Tramonto, William Lyon is developing Bella Sera, Cascata, Cascata Ancora and Entrata.

These homes measure from 1,157 to 2,897 square feet. Prices start in the high $100,000s.

Celebrate Homes offers six single-story floor plans ranging from 1,609 to 2,513 square feet in its Villa Serena and Villagio neighborhoods. Prices start from the low $200,000s.

Desert Wind Homes offers Tivoli, a single-story neighborhood with homes measuring from 1,938 to 2,097 square feet and priced from the $200,000s.

Classic Homes' Paradiso features five single- and two-story floor plans ranging from 2,850 to 4,300 square feet and priced from the high $400,000s.

The Mamidis, like all Mountain Falls residents, have access to an exclusive residents facility that offers a fitness center, lounge with a pool table, and multipurpose room.

Adjacent is an outdoor aquatic center that features a 25-yard lap pool and a spa for adults, plus a free-form family pool and an interactive splash pad for youths.

The Mountain Falls Grill Room, which is open to the public, is also on-site.

Residents may take advantage of reduced daily greens fees and purchase golf memberships with special rates at the community's 18-hole golf course.

Memberships and daily greens fees are available to nonresidents as well.

To visit, from Las Vegas, travel about 45 miles west on State Route 160 (Blue Diamond Road) past Interstate 15. Before reaching Pahrump, turn left on Manse Road. Proceed to Hafen Ranch and turn right.

Model homes and sales offices are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except Monday when they open at noon.
