Pet hospital to offer free microchips to raise funds for K-9 program

Residents can obtain free microchips for their pets Sunday in exchange for donations that will benefit Nevada State Friends for K-9, a nonprofit group seeking to launch a K-9 program for law enforcement agencies in the Silver State.

The event is set for 8 to 11 a.m. at Paradise Pet Hospital, 1060 E. Flamingo Road.

For a cash/check donation of any amount, a permanent microchip is placed in each animal so it can be easily identified should it become lost. Registration for the microchip costs $18. Organizers said they recommend that registration is conducted at the time of microchipping.
