PETS: Readers send in photos of their animals
September 13, 2011 - 8:00 am
Readers have submitted hundreds of entries to View’s pets section. Because we only can feature a few photos each week in the newspaper, we decided to expand the sharing online. We hope you enjoy these extra faces, and remind you to check back each Tuesday for more photos of your best friends.
“I want to tell you about my little guy. He is such a trooper; nothing ever gets him down. I have a Yorkshire terrier named Caesar, (who turned) 15 years old on June 11,” wrote Rona Wells of Las Vegas. “When he was 2 years old, he was diagnosed with a certain heredity condition (and) needed an operation to have a shunt placed. He bounced back in two days. He loves everyone and will always have a kiss for you. Unfortunately, four years ago he was diagnosed with diabetes and became completely blind. It is amazing how he adjusted. He gets two shots a day and takes them without complaint. He knows where everything is in the house: his water bowls, food bowl and puppy pads. He still goes to the door when he hears someone outside and lets me know. He loves going out in his roller bag as shown in the attached picture. I hope you showcase him just to show that people should not get rid of animals because they are sick or blind.”
“This is my dachshund Oscar (Mayer Weiner) and his sidekick, Frank (Furter),” wrote William Gatchell of Las Vegas. “They are both adopted and are best friends till the end.”
Darlene Cohen of Las Vegas adopted Pepsi, approximately 19 months old, from The Animal Foundation in October 2010. “Pepsi loves her clothes, her more than 25 toys, plus 12 stuffed animals,” she wrote. “(Pepsi) is extremely smart and does the funniest things. She makes me laugh all the time. I’m so blessed to have found her.”
“This is Reeses Pieces from a greyhound rescue,” wrote Jolene Dysert of Las Vegas. “Gabby was rescued from a puppy mill, where she was abused for four years. They’re in loving homes now.”
