Phil Ivey eliminated, zero-for-five in final table apperances

For the fifth time at this year’s World Series of Poker, Phil Ivey reached the final table at an open event.

And for the fifth time, he didn’t take home his ninth individual event championship bracelet.

Ivey was eliminated in eighth place at the Rio Wednesday afternoon in the $2,500 buy-in Mixed Hold'em event. He earned $21,699.

Ivey, who is tied for fifth on the all-time World Series of Poker individual event bracelet winner standings, hasn't won an event at the tournament since 2010.

Ivey placed second, third, fifth, and seventh in the previous four final tables.

Coupled with a sixth in-the-money finish at an earlier event, the results have pushed Ivey into second place in the points standings for the World Series of Poker’s Player of the Year award.
