Phoenix prep tight end commits to UNLV

Tight end Tyler Bergsten, rated by Rivals.com and Scout.com as a two-star prospect, committed to UNLV.

Bergsten (6 feet 4 inches, 230 pounds), who attends Phoenix's Greenway High School, visited this past weekend.

"This weekend was awesome," he said. "I had a great time on campus. All the coaches took really good care of me and my family.

"I'm really excited the recruiting process is over, and I'm excited I've found the place to go."

Bergsten has trips scheduled to Northern Arizona and San Jose State the next two weekends, but said he was considering canceling those now that he has chosen a school.

He also said he expects to redshirt next season, but then could make an impact in 2012 or 2013. The Rebels will incorporate more tight ends into what is developing into a more power offense.

"That's great for me," Bergsten said.
