Physics, heaven and fairy tales

Nothing like a Monday to contemplate big things ... like whether there is a God and heaven and the like.

A British newspaper features an interview with Stephen Hawking, this generation's go-to guy for understanding the universe. You can read it here.

In his earlier work, Hawking left room in his thinking for a God. But now he's hardened to the position that heaven is a "fairy story," and there's no room for a deity in theories on the creation of the universe.

Sigh. Hated to read Hawking's new ideas, because I'm leaning the other way. I'm certainly open to the ideas of physics and high math in my theories on creation ... just as I am open to fairies, wee good folk and other ethereal beings that go bump in the night.

Like, say, the goblins who sometimes comment on this blog.
