Professional Kenny Rogers impressionist, wife pick a fine time to leave for Sun City

Richard and Cheryl Hampton said they had long planned to move to Southern Nevada upon retirement, and found the right combination of features at Del Webb's Sun City Anthem community.

"We looked at many neighborhoods but kept being drawn back to Sun City Anthem," Cheryl Hampton said. "It is a community that offers the combination of a developer with a reputation for consistency and a well-structured building process, along with the amenities we were looking for."

The age-qualified community features 12 single-story floor plan designs in three collections.

The homes range from 1,496 to 3,175 square feet with two or three bedrooms and two to 3 1/2 baths. Prices start in the low $300,000s.

Richard Hampton said he was very familiar with the Sun City name, along with the reputation of Del Webb.

As a professional Kenny Rogers impressionist, Richard Hampton said he frequently spends time in Palm Springs, Calif. When he does, he stays in a Del Webb-built home.

"The home is in Sun City Palm Desert, one of the original ones," he said.

"After all these years, it is still just a fantastically beautiful place."

The Hamptons purchased the Lincoln design in Las Vegas.

Situated on a 12,000-square-foot home site, the two-bedroom, two-bath home measures 2,090 square feet, with a den and two-car garage.

"We really like the great- room concept in this home," Cheryl Hampton said. "We like to entertain, so we love the spacious feel of the Lincoln, which has a nice, large kitchen that opens to the living room. We were especially pleased to be able to open that side of our home to the backyard by adding French doors, which provide a wonderful flow to the outside."

The Hamptons selected options such as a central vacuum system, surround-sound for their 52-inch plasma-screen television, glass-block windows in the master bath and custom cabinetry in the great room.

"Pulte offers a lot of different floor plans and they are all different enough to give you a good choice of designs to start from," she said. "They also give you plenty of options and opportunities to make little changes, so you can get a home that works perfectly with your lifestyle."

Community features at Sun City Anthem include the Anthem Center, which offers Trumpets restaurant, fitness and wellness center, indoor walking track, game rooms, business center, computer lab, library, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, conference rooms and ballroom. A second facility, Independence Center, is also open within the community.

Homes within Sun City Anthem are constructed with Environments for Living building technology which is 30 percent more energy efficient than Energy Star, according to the builder.

Features of Environments for Living include blown-in Cocoon cellulose insulation, air-conditioned attic spaces, 15 SEER air conditioning units and dual-paned, vinyl-framed low-e windows.

Homeowners benefit from decreased internal and external contaminants; increased indoor air quality; decreased heating and cooling usage; and increased comfort, durability and tightness.

To visit the community, take Interstate 15 to the Las Vegas Beltway, head east to Eastern Avenue, then drive south, past St. Rose Parkway, to Anthem Parkway. At Anthem, turn left, then right on Alexandria Drive and follow the signs to the sales pavilion and model village.

For more information, contact the sales pavilion at 888- 786-2489 or visit delwebb.com.

Office hours at the sales pavilion are from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The model village is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.
