Prudential Americana to host first annual Sunshine Kids charity event

Prudential Americana Group, Realtors is hosting its first Annual Sunshine Kids Charity Benefit Auction Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 7475 W. Sahara Ave.

A live auction will be conducted by Las Vegas auctioneer Guy Deiro of Deiro & Associates and is open to the public.

All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Sunshine Kids, a nonprofit organization dedicated to children with cancer. The group helps to provide positive group activities, trips and emotional support for young cancer patients.

Sunshine Kids coordinates a variety of free programs and events for kids who are receiving cancer treatments in hospitals across North America.

LaToya Simon, a Las Vegas resident and 2007 Sunshine Kids National Spokeskid, will be the honorary co-host at the event.

Diagnosed with leukemia in 2003, LaToya is an amateur cartoonist and poet. She participated in the New Orleans Mardi Gras and the Texas Hill Country Adventure events.

"These trips were the best things to ever happened to me," she said. "I thought I was gonna be miserable going through all that chemo and stuff, but the SSKids made it the best years of my life."

Donations are being accepted to support this charity event. Items already donated include trips, gift baskets, show tickets, sports and entertainment memorabilia, golf packages, salon and spa packages, gift certificates to restaurants and other local businesses, and a variety of other gifts and toys.
