Pumpkin Festival returns to Summerlin
November 1, 2008 - 9:00 pm
Thousands of Summerlin residents attended the second annual Summerlin Pumpkin Festival at The Gardens Park. The event featured a pumpkin patch, hay maze, petting zoo, bounce house, costume parade and scarecrow-building contest.
The Las Vegas Farmers Market was there selling home-grown and homemade items, including fruit and produce, flowers, corn-on-the-cob, barbecue dinners and more.
According to Lezlie Barnson-DeNardin, director of community relations for The Summerlin Council, the non-profit arm of the Summerlin Community Association that oversees social, cultural and recreational events exclusively for residents, holiday events are always popular with the community's many young families.
"Seasonal celebrations, such as the Summerlin Pumpkin Festival, are family favorites," she said. "The events are designed to promote togetherness -- something our residents truly appreciate. Summerlin's community events have become traditions for many residents whose family life is chronicled by photos from community celebrations, year after year. "
The Summerlin Council coordinates nearly two dozen annual events for residents, including several seasonal celebrations.
