Pumpkin Hollow Copper Project update

Nevada Wilderness is seizing upon Sen. Reid's comments about having a wilderness component to the bill for the Pumpkin Hollow Copper Project near Yerington to push the Wovoka Wilderness area.

Here's a website detailing the effort. There is nothing on Reid's official website that indicates he supports the move. But Nevada columnist Tom Mitchell in his blog this morning indicates Reid may be supportive.

The big takeaway from all this, however, should not be about wilderness, but how the unrelated wilderness idea is being forced on to the Yerington jobs bill. Sen. Harry Reid, if he cares one bit (and I doubt it) about work-a-day Nevadans, he would move the Yerington bill through the Senate today.

If later he wants to propose a new wilderness area, then do so and make the case without trying to sneak it through on a bill that will add more jobs to Nevada than all of Harry Reid's solar proposals combined.
