QB’s ankle injury not serious
ELY -- UNLV junior quarterback Mike Clausen's left ankle injury, sustained Friday, is not serious.
Clausen was dressed in his No. 6 green jersey, which is what the quarterbacks wear. Injured players wear blue.
Though Clausen didn't take snaps this morning, coach Bobby Hauck said he expected him to receive repetitions this afternoon. Clausen took part in a special teams drill at the end of this morning's practice.
With Clausen sidelined, senior Omar Clayton again took the great majority of snaps. Hauck has not named a starter for the Sept. 4 season opener against Wisconsin at Sam Boyd Stadium, but it appears more and more likely Clayton will get the call, especially if he throws as well as he did this morning.
Clayton threw touchdown passes of 50 yards to junior wide receiver Michael Johnson and 32 yards to sophomore Aaron Reed.
