Reader Mailbag: Terry Fator Greater; Criss Angel Still Yuck

i got a little behind in posting reader mail. As usual, Criss Angel is eliciting strong negative reactions, while Terry Fator is getting positive notes.

FATOR IS GREATER

Just wanted to let you know, as a LV cabbie, I did indeed see Mr. Fator's show & you're right he was incredible. I have been talking about him in my cab to almost everybody that rides in my cab. I highly recommend Mr. Fator & I tell people that he will make you laugh & think about current events. He is exactly what Vegas needs.

FATOR AGAIN

Hi Doug. Thanks for your great column on Terrry Fator. As I said before my husband and I saw him on America's Got Talent and he was the best-then we saw him at the Hilton and HE TRULY IS THE BEST. Clean, fun, upbeat, cute and he too really sings so that's si much fun. He is what vegas needs now instead of all the clubs where young kids pay hundreds of dollars for a bottle of booze and lousy entertainment. People can keep coming back to see him as he adds to his show-we'll be back soon once he gets settled at the Mirage. In the meantime, all the folks from Iowa and there abouts can come see some clean, cute and funny shows where you don't have to pay $200.00 a seat like Bette or Cher-how silly is all that. Hopefully terry won't let them raise the prices too high. Again your column was so good-especially compared to the one written in the Sun same day where that guy put it down as OLD AND TIRED. Nowadays, not everybody LIKES THE CHRIS BROWN RIHANNA SHOWS WITH ALL THAT STUPID PERSONAL STUFF THAT NONE OF US SHOULD KNOW ABOUT AND THEN TO SEE HOW SILLY SHE IS ACTING TO TAKE HIM BACK-i WON'T BORE YOU WITH ABUSE ISSUES IN THIS COUNTRY. Thanks, Doug, and keep those great columns . We need to continue to clean up our act on the strip and have prices affordable and for young folks who can still afford to come and see the Terrys of the world.

MORE FATOR HAPPINESS

Mr. Elfman,

I read you blurb on Terry Fador's show of Saturday night.

We went to his show on Friday night, and it was amazing, delightful and about the best we've seen on the Strip in years.

As to being a smidgeon too long...NO WAY. He went the 90 minutes and people were wanting more. Even his yodeling was unbelievable...with is mouth closed. Other shows we've seen seem to "cut" minutes off or not go the 90 minutes which shows should go.

His salute to veterans was welcomed by everyone, and being the wife of a military man, very appreciated at his honoring ALL the veterans. God Bless Him.

We are definitely going again...A great and happy feeling show.

DON RICKLES WASN’T THE FIRST INSULT COMIC

Doug,

Reading your column today about Don Rickles, you stated that he invented what's called insult comedy. I do believe that Jackie Leonard was doing insult comedy before Rickles. I have a tape cassett of a Friars Roast of Don Rickles from back in the 1960's. Jackie Leonard is one of the roasters and he mentions about Don Rickles stealing his act.

ANOTHER UNHAPPY CRISS ANGEL VIEWER

Hi there. Just read your review of the Criss Angel show....I wish I had read this before being mugged at the bogus show Saturday night. We've been to LV a couple times before and have seen Lance Burton, Steve Wyrick, KA, O and Mystere. My son who is now 12 was so excited...we all were because we love (used to love) Criss Angel's mindfreak show. My son was convinced that Criss was truly magic, some freak of nature with superhuman qualities. We told him this would be amazing and probably even better than any magic shows we'd seen before....NOT. Lance Burton and Steve Wyrick need to give Criss Angel some lessons on putting on a show. We paid $500 to sit in the third row. We'd talked about how great it would be, we'd psyched ourselves up and after the quick intro we soon realized we'd been robbed. I looked over at my son at one point and I thought he was going to cry. We were so upset at the end of the show we didn't even have words to describe our disappointment. It was a bad cirque de solei show and an even worse magic show. The only good thing that came out of the horrible Criss Angel experience is that it teaches us all a very valuable lesson in idol worshiping....it certainly grounded my son's belief that Criss Angel was anything special. In fact, I'm wondering if he's a magician at all.

If you figure out a way that we can get our money back...like a class action lawsuit, please let me know. Criss Angel said something about having this Luxor contract for the next 10 years!!! I'd be surprised it he makes it another 10 days.

READER REVIEW: Omelet House

This is not your ordinary Omelet House as are the others. This one is located at 2227 N. Rampart, 89123.
The place has been totally redecorated to a real modern decor.
Breakfast & lunches are great but after lunch hour which is 4:00 PM the restaurant transforms itself into a terrific Italian Restaurant which serves Italian specialties till 7:00 PM. There recipes come directly from Chicago where the family is from.
I would like as a customer to see it featured in the Neon or some other part in the paper.
Can this be done? Let me know.

Thanks

-John
