Readers respond to Chrysler column

Received a lot of interesting responses to Sunday's "Chrysler's alive and scary" column. Aside from the comments at the end of the column, here's a collection of a few of the many e-mail in my in-basket today. As always, thanks to everyone for reading and taking the time to comment.

Robert of the Internet says: "This morning's RJ Commentary is scarier than Pet Sematary. The movie is fiction. You predicted the future ... My next email is to AutoWeek editor Dutch Mandel. I will not only encourage him to read your op-ed, I hope you will allow him to print it."

George of Las Vegas says: "It was with great interest that I read your column on Sunday, May 3. The third paragraph had the word I was looking for: Socialism. I believe that we are headed to a Socialist form of government. The liberal, socialist, left wing triumvirate of Obama, Reid and Pelosi must be defeated .... Lastly, I must be honest and say I won't be in Nevada for the 2010 unseating of Harry Reid. I will be retiring to another state. I cannot afford to live here in retirement. I am actually going to a state that is worse off than we are. (Not California). I will continue to urge the local press and political agencies in my new state to get Obama out of office. I can qualify my fear of Socialism by saying I have visited Socialist countries and have worked with people from those countries. As long as those people are continuing to come to this country, then obviously this country is better. Thank you for a wonderful column and for access to your eyes and ears."

Gerald of the Internet says: "Worked 40 years in auto industry. UAW would argue over a 5 minute job for hours; absenteeism is probably 8 percent; when they did not want to work (UAW members) would sabotage equipment."

Rachel of Las Vegas says: "As I do on any given morning, I make the coffee, feed the dogs and step outside for the morning paper. Sunday's however, are special as there is always a particular column that I look for. I always go to your column first. This week's article was great. Not that they all aren't, but this one about Chrysler, was so on the money .... Thanks for always being 'for us' .... We really need to find a candidate to run against and beat, hopefully, Harry Reid. Any suggestions?"

James of the Internet says: "On the resurrected Chrysler building cars that Obama wants but very few others. A walking corpse. Thanks for the courage to tell it like it is."

And finally, this gem is priceless. I don't care who you are, this is funny (assuming it is a joke) ...

Jim of Idaho says: "We’ve taken their land, destroyed their heritage, forbidden their children to speak their languages, and “borrowed” their religions. Now you are linking the Chrysler mess to Native Americans. Have you no decency, Mr. Frederick? Have you no decency?"
