Nevada State Bank supports Habitat for Humanity
Nevada State Bank employees worked on the frame of their Habitat for Humanity house Oct. 16.
The structural wooden framework of the house was put together and then raised, providing the basic foundation for the rest of the house.
Dallas Haun, president and CEO, and Russell Price, executive vice president, along with other senior level executives and employees from throughout branches and departments of Nevada State Bank are building the house for a family in need.
In December 2009, Nevada State Bank donated a townhouse to Habitat for Humanity. The house sold for $106,500 in spring 2010, and the proceeds are being used to finance the 2010 Habitat House.
Established in Clark County in 1991, Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas has completed 70 homes. It is a not-for-profit organization that builds decent, affordable housing with the help of volunteer labor and donated time and materials and funds. Each home is sold at no profit and with a no-interest mortgage to local working families who otherwise might be forced to live in substandard housing. Families contribute sweat equity by helping in the construction of their homes. Contact Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas at 638-6477 or visit habitatlasvegas.org.
Established Dec. 9, 1959, Nevada State Bank is celebrating its 50th anniversary. A full-service bank with 55 branches statewide, Nevada State Bank offers consumer, business and private banking services. For more information on Nevada State Bank, call 383-0009 and visit nsbank.com.
Local commercial real estate agents clean up graffiti
Real estate professionals from the Commercial Alliance Las Vegas are teaming up to clean up trash and graffiti plaguing Winterwood Park on the east side of Las Vegas.
Dozens of volunteers are expected to volunteer their time, including CALV President Robin Civish, members of CALV's staff and board of directors, along with family members and friends.
With help, paint and supplies from Clark County, volunteers will paint over graffiti in this park as part of their continued commitment to maintaining local neighborhoods and improving the quality of life in Southern Nevada. This group organized a similar clean-up effort at this park in April.
Starting at 10 a.m. today at Winterwood Park, at 2200 Winterwood Blvd., near Sahara Avenue and east of Nellis Boulevard.
The Commercial Alliance Las Vegas is the commercial real estate division of the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors. For more information, visit calv.org.
