Nevada Housing Division names deputy administrator
Nevada Housing Division Administrator CJ Manthe has appointed Sharath Chandra as deputy administrator. Chandra will be responsible for oversight of the daily operations of the division’s Las Vegas office.
Chandra was previously employed at the Clark County Community Resources Management Division where he administered federal and state affordable housing grants including HOME, Neighborhood Stabilization and the State of Nevada Low-Income Housing Trust Fund. He has experience with single-family and homeowner assistance programs as well as multifamily housing financing programs.
Chandra earned a bachelors’ degree and MBA from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

GLVAR honors J.C. Melvin as Realtor of the Year
The Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors presented its annual awards this week to some of its leading members, including J.C. Melvin, who was named Realtor of the Year. Melvin is a longtime local Realtor who works at Keller Williams Southwest in Las Vegas.
The trade group held its annual installation of new officers and board members for 2015 Nov. 1 at the Four Seasons Other GLVAR 2014 award winners:
Janet Carpenter of Signature Real Estate Group won the Gene Nebeker Memorial Award for professionalism and service to the GLVAR and the community; Neil Schwartz of Coldwell Banker Premier Realty received the Ronn Reiss Award for educational excellence and leadership; Rocky Finseth, president and CEO of Carrara Nevada and longtime lobbyist for the GVLAR and Nevada Association of Realtors, won the Sala/Rubin Award (formerly called the Frank Sala Award and renamed this year to also honor longtime GLVAR leader Marv Rubin), recognizing long-term commitment to grassroots political action and protecting private property rights; and longtime local Realtor and politically active community leader Jack Woodcock of BHHS Nevada Properties won the inaugural award named after him: the Jack Woodcock Distinguished Service Award;
Inducted into the GLVAR Hall of Fame were Bette Leal of Century 21 Consolidated; David Berg of Elite Realty; and Ronnie Schwartz of Coldwell Banker Premier Realty.
