Home-buying seminar scheduled for Aug. 2

Chateau Homes and the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development Program will hold an information seminar for prospective home buyers Aug. 2 at 10 a.m. at the Bob Ruud Community Center in Pahrump.

The community center is located at the corner of State Route 160, which runs through the burgeoning Nevada town, and Basin Road at the second stop light. The town has only two traffic lights.

The event will provide information to home buyers on the nonprofit loan program that can offer no down payments and interest rates starting at 1 percent.

Juhl high-rise to hold topping-off event

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, Las Vegas City Councilman Gary Reese and CityMark Development executives will attend a private topping-off ceremony and media event for the juhl high-rise condominium project Monday.

The sales office for the mixed-use development is at 255 E. Bonneville Ave.

Newland hires new marketing director

Newland Communities, development manager of Union Park and national real estate developer, has hired former marketing manager for the Lennar and KB Home, René Merlau as its new marketing director.

Union Park is a planned 61-acre, mixed-use project that will be located in downtown Las Vegas on land owned by the city of Las Vegas.

The master-planned urban center will include the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute, Smith Center for the Performing Arts, World Jewelry Center, Charlie Palmer Boutique Hotel/Condo and other projects.

Merlau will be responsible for the marketing and brand management of Union Park, working closely with the city and its project partners.
