Real estate section to host housing discussion with local experts Aug. 1

The Las Vegas Review-Journal will host its first Housing Round Table at 6 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Gold Coast’s Arizona Ballroom, Salon E.

The public is invited to attend the free event to ask area experts questions about the local housing market and its recent changes.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to allow guests to browse booths with informational material on housing statics, local laws, programs and lending. There will be refreshments.

The expert panel, which includes Dennis Smith of Home Builders Research; Dave Tina, the 2013 president of the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors; Rocky Cochran, the 2013 president of the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association and vice president of construction operations of Pardee Homes in Southern Nevada; Michele Johnson, president of the Financial Guidance Center, which administers the Home Again statewide program; Marcus Conklin, associate director of the Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies at UNLV; and JC Melvin, a real estate agent who specializes in short sales.
