Realtors take tour of luxury custom home development

The luxury community of MacDonald Highlands in Henderson invited more than 6,000 Realtors to a special viewing of nine estate homes April 29. The Realtors were treated to a lunch and toured the development via private shuttle buses with designated stops at featured homes.

All the custom homes on the tour offered unique settings, creative floor plans and some "wow factors," said Rich MacDonald, developer of MacDonald Highlands. Featured in the event were a collection of hillside estates with views of the Las Vegas Strip. Additional custom homes spotlighted on the tour were located adjacent to DragonRidge Country Club, the private golf course within MacDonald Highlands.

"Ordinarily, these custom estates would be seen by appointment only, making it a time-consuming process for the agents," MacDonald said. "This was a great opportunity for them to enjoy these spectacular homes."

Showcased homes offered the real estate professionals a chance to see the latest in home technology, custom furnishing and creative designs. Single-story, two-story and three-level homes were featured. Highlights in the various homes included a five-room wellness center, indoor two-story waterfall, 12-foot-wide fireplace, second-story swimming pool, two-level wine cellar with a glass floor, adult lounges, disappearing walls and fantasy backyards.

Home designs at MacDonald Highlands incorporate Tuscan themes and contemporary flair with twists of Asian influences. The custom homes measure from 3,200 to more than 11,000 square feet, with prices ranging from $1.4 million to more than $8 million.

MacDonald Highlands is a 1,200-acre community with four custom-home neighborhoods and a wide array of home site choices. Each neighborhood features its own distinct topography and views. Buyers can choose from a variety of terrains including golf frontage, multi-level pads or hillside elevations with views of the golf course, mountains or Las Vegas Strip. These custom lots range from a half acre to more than 21/2 acres and are priced from $800,000.

DragonRidge Country Club is one of the top amenities of MacDonald Highlands. The private, 18-hole course was sculpted by famed designers Jay Moorish and David Druzisky, who placed the golf course back into the canyons utilizing elevation changes. The award-winning clubhouse, built of stone and glass, features a gourmet steakhouse overlooking the Strip, two mixed grills and lounges, fitness center, swimming pool and golf pro shop.

Private golf club memberships are limited, ensuring that members and their guests have a choice of tee times. Complimentary social memberships are provided to owners upon application approval, according to MacDonald.

Located just minutes from the Strip and McCarran International Airport, MacDonald Highlands welcomes visitors with a landscaped entry at the intersection of Valle Verde Drive and Horizon Ridge Parkway. The information center is located at 1730 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway.

To visit, take Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, to Valle Verde and travel south to the corner of Valle Verde and Horizon Ridge. The sales office is open seven days a week.
