Reid and Lieberman, together again
April 30, 2010 - 2:49 pm
As a sometimes unruly member of the Democratic caucus, Sen. Joe Lieberman has tested Senate leader Harry Reid on several occasions in the past year or two.
Remember when Reid was pressured to strip Lieberman of a committee chairmanship following the Connecticut independent senator's badmouthing of Barack Obama at the 2008 Republican National Convention?
And remember late last year when Lieberman threw a bomb into an emerging compromise on health care reform? Reid at that time fumed that Lieberman had double crossed" him.
No matter, all seems to be fine now as Lieberman is hosting a fundraiser for Reid this Sunday in big money Greenwich, Conn.
"Democrats in the know say this is the second time in about a year that Reid has hit the Greenwich fundraising circuit, taking advantage of the deep pockets of a town elite that doesn't discriminate when it comes to political stripe," the Connecticut Post says in a story previewing the event.
According to the newspaper: "Reid, whose job approval rating sits at 33 percent, asked Lieberman to do the fundraiser for him."
The host will be venture capitalist Dan Ciporin and his wife Jill, at their $4 million home. The minimum to get in the door is $1,000.
From the local reports, there could be action outside the Ciporin estate as tea partiers are preparing to protest.
