Reid manager says poll numbers sure to change

Brandon Hall, campaign manager for Sen. Harry Reid, says poll numbers showing Republican challenger Sharron Angle with a lead in their Senate race surely will change once Nevadans learn more about her and her "dangerous" views.
Hall spoke with reporters after unveiling two television ads that portray the Democratic incumbent in a positive light as a creator of jobs in renewable energy. He said Reid was not concerned about a poll released earlier today by Rasmussen Reports showing Angle with a 50 percent to 39 percent lead a day after the state's primary election.
"For starters, I believe most Nevadans don't know Sharron Angle's extreme record yet and so as Nevadans begin to meet and really understand what she is talking about in the campaign that will change," Hall said.
Also on polls, Hall said, "a month and a half ago I could have pointed to a poll that would have showed a candidate leading the Republican primary by 30 points and that candidate is no longer on the ballot." That of course would be Sue Lowden.
"So things change," Hall said.
When it was pointed out that virtually all polls show Reid's support stuck around 40 percent and how does he plan to change that, Hall pointed to the new advertising.
"You run two television ads where you highlight his positive record and what he is doing to create jobs right here in Nevada," he said. Reid may get more direct in comparing himself to Angle at some point, but "there is plenty of time between now and election day."
Hall also said Reid would agree to debate Angle.
"With Sharron Angle coming out you have a candidate who provides the starkest contrast to Senator Reid's record," Hall said.
"Her views are extreme, outside the mainstream of Nevada. As a candidate her term that she uses is 'wacky," but as a senator they are dangerous and that is the contrast we will be making."
