Reid on Burris: Wait and see

U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., suffered an embarrassment earlier this year when he first declared that no appointee of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich would be accepted by the Senate, then backed down and welcomed Roland Burris.

Now that Burris is in hot water for his conflicting statements about his contacts with Blagojevich, Reid is taking a more cautious approach.

In Carson City today, Reid said he's not calling on Burris to resign because the investigations under way are adequate to get to the bottom of things.

"I don't know if he lied or didn't," Reid said, according to The Associated Press. "Right now, he's a member of the Senate."
