Reid shiner proves apt punch line

His right arm in a sling and his left eye black and swollen ugly, Sen. Harry Reid faced the Capitol Hill press today for the first time since he fell and dislocated his shoulder last Wednesday.

He had his story ready when he got to the microphone.

“I planned to go to the fight, as...you know,” Reid said, referring to Saturday's boxing match in Las Vegas where Manny Pacquiao decisively beat Shane Mosley.

But, Reid said, he misunderstood his invitation to one of the fight parties.

"It was not a black-eye event. It was a black tie event," he said.

Asked how he was feeling, Reid added: "I think that I feel like Mosley today, rather than Pacquiao."
