Report says Dems now figure Reid will be around awhile

Remember that talk around the U.S. Capitol as to whether Sen. Dick Durbin or Sen. Chuck Schumer would be best positioned to take over from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, surely a goner after the November election?
Well forget about that for now.
Politico reports this morning that after taking an early measure of Reid's opponent, Democrats now believe he is going to be back in the Capitol come the new session in January.
In fact, the speculation now is whether Reid would want to serve another six years as majority leader, or step down and ease into retirement as a committee chairman or some such.
Republicans warn not to underestimate outsider Sharron Angle, who won the state party primary handily. And there is still that problem of Reid continuing to poll poorly in Nevada, with his approval ratings still struggling to climb beyond 40 percent.
"But with Angle's shaky campaign launch, Democrats are now talking more about Reid's post-November power and less about his inevitable demise," Politico reports.
