Residents enjoy tricks, treats at Rhodes Ranch

Hayrides, a scary Full Moon Café, and plenty of tricks and treats lured the residents of Rhodes Ranch to the annual Halloween event which took place at The R-Club Recreation Center within the master-planned community.

"This is the second year we put on this event and the turnout was phenomenal," said Virginia Kaplan, program director for The R-Club.

"I think many of the residents who attended last year encouraged others to come this year. It is such an amazing event and a safe way for families to participate in this holiday."

Residents were able to enjoy hayrides, face painting and pumpkin decorating. There was also a palm reader and a balloon-twisting witch as well as a performance by the Las Vegas City Artz Academy.

"We had several contests during the evening as well. There was one for the best decorated pumpkin, the best and scariest costumes and guessing the weight of a large pumpkin that we bought. We tried to offer many options to appeal to everyone involved," Kaplan said.

"We really enjoy putting on these events for the residents and especially seeing the excited faces of the children as they participate in the various activities offered. I am already looking forward to next year's event and ways to make it even more exciting."

Rhodes Homes opened the 35,000-square-foot recreation center in October 2005. It houses an indoor workout facility with weights and cardiovascular equipment, a full-length basketball court, two racquetball/handball courts, and six billiards tables. In addition to fitness amenities, the facility has social areas that feature three fireplaces along with couches, tables and chairs and boasts one of the largest outdoor water parks in the valley called the Fun Zone Aquatic Park.

Included in the Fun Zone is a 13,000-square-foot lagoon pool with wading areas, a 10,000-square-foot water park with three speed slides, five kid slides, rope bridges, multiple squirt gun stations and a 1,000-gallon bucket that fills and tips over every five minutes. It also includes a 25-meter lap pool, two eight-person spas, a 12-person group spa, four large covered cabanas, one exterior lighted basketball court, two sand volleyball courts, four lighted tennis courts and a children's playground with activity structures.

Residents of Rhodes Ranch have access to a host of amenities including its par-72, signature Ted Robinson-designed 18-hole golf course.

Rhodes Ranch residents also benefit from living in a guard-gated community with 24-hour roving security patrols, the park-like atmosphere of the neighborhood, and the R-Club at Rhodes Ranch.

The Rhodes Ranch Golf Club has become one of the hottest golf destinations in Las Vegas.

Designed by golf-course architect Ted Robinson, the par-72 course was named a Best Value by Vegas Golfer magazine.
