Residents make new friends while golfing at Mountain Falls Golf Club

For those golfers who live in the Mountain Falls master-planned community in Pahrump, this is the perfect time of year to enjoy the Mountain Falls Golf Club. Among those who are scheduling tee times is Mountain Falls resident Bob Dougherty, a sales agent at the Cascata Ancora neighborhood by William Lyon Homes.

Dougherty frequents the 18-hole, par-72 course and its driving range, enjoying the camaraderie of other golfers, some of whom have bought their homes from him.

"I play golf at the Mountain Falls Golf Club once or twice a week. There are about 30 different homeowners who I golf with from time to time. Some of them live in the Cascata Ancora neighborhood where I work as a sales associate and others live in the other neighborhoods of Mountain Falls," Dougherty said.

Dougherty has worked for William Lyon homes for more than 11 years and used to sell homes at its Las Vegas Valley neighborhoods before moving to Mountain Falls.

"My wife, Debbie, and I just love living in Mountain Falls. I had previously sold homes at four William Lyon communities in Las Vegas before moving to Pahrump 31/2 years ago. I just really wanted to get out of Vegas, it became too busy," Dougherty said. "Mountain Falls offers a very peaceful lifestyle, it's very quiet here. I love this community. It is just beautiful here."

He works in the sales office at Cascata Ancora, a single-story neighborhood where homes measure from 1,429 to 1,774 square feet and are priced from the mid-$100,000s.

The golf course, which is surrounded by neighborhoods in a desert mountain backdrop, was a consideration in their decision to move from Las Vegas.

"I like the golf course, it is always green and well-maintained," Dougherty said. "I have found that a lot of people who I've sold homes to at Mountain Falls decide to purchase here because of the course. And many of these people end up buying golf passes, which give them unlimited play."

Annual, six-month, three-month and monthly golf passes as well as daily greens fees are available to both residents and nonresidents and include cart use.

Overlooking the course is the Mountain Falls Grill Room, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant provides catering and special events planning services as well.

Adjacent is a recreation facility that features a fitness center, outdoor aquatic center, lounge and meeting rooms for use by residents of Mountain Falls.

Three builders are developing six neighborhoods within Mountain Falls.

William Lyon Homes, Mountain Falls' master-plan developer, is constructing the Bella Sera, Cascata Ancora, Entrata and Tramonto neighborhoods, where single-story homes measure from 1,157 to 2,897 square feet and are priced from the $100,000s.

The William Lyon neighborhoods are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Monday, when model homes open at noon.

Classic Homes' Paradiso neighborhood features five single- and two-story floor plans measuring up to 4,300 square feet and priced from the $400,000s.

Desert Wind Homes offers Tivoli, a single-story neighborhood with homes measuring from 1,938 to 2,097 square feet and priced from the $200,000s.

The sales office hours for Paradiso and Tivoli vary.

To visit Mountain Falls from Las Vegas, travel about 45 miles west on State Highway 160, Blue Diamond Road, past Interstate 15. Before reaching Pahrump, turn left on Manse Road. Proceed to Hafen Ranch and turn right.
