Retirees celebrate 50th anniversary in their new Pardee home
Diane and Steve Markham bought their first home — a Pardee Home in Southern California — 42 years ago, and this year they will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in their “last home” in Pardee’s popular Durango Trail community in southwest Las Vegas.
“This is our last home, where we plan to live the rest of our lives,” said Diane, a retired insurance agent. “We sold all our other properties to live here,” said Steve, a retired toy industry executive.
The Markhams chose Pardee’s optional GenSmart Suite that provides a unique, private entrance and living area to accommodate multiple generations that may be living together under one roof. Both floor plans at Durango Trail can be built with Pardee’s exclusive GenSmart Suite.
“Our daughter lives there now, but we could also make it a separate apartment for a caregiver, allowing us to age in place,” Diane said. “It’s the perfect solution. We feel comfortable that would never have to move again.”
In addition to the GenSmart Suite, the Markhams like the single-story floor plan with a large great room for family gatherings, large kitchen for cooking and entertaining, and large laundry room with “lots of good storage,” according to Diane. Steve enjoys using the spacious game room as his office and private getaway.
Pardee’s customer service also gets high marks from the Markhams. “They are very quick to respond, or will just drop by to say hello,” said Diane. Steve remembers their first Pardee home experience in their 1,400-square-foot home 42 years ago, “Customer service was excellent then — just as good as it is now.”
Their new Durango Trail gated neighborhood features two single-story floor plans that range in size from approximately 2,789 square feet to approximately 3,023 square feet. Prices currently start from approximately $395,950.
The Markhams chose the Silverton Plan that measures approximately 3,023 square feet with four bedrooms, three baths, great room, game room, covered patio and three-bay garage as standard. The plan can also be built with an optional den in lieu of bedroom three, optional library in lieu of the formal dining room and optional four-bay garage.
The Prescott Plan at Durango Trail measures approximately 2,789 square feet with four bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, game room, great room, formal dining room or optional den, covered patio and three-bay garage. The plan can be built with an additional optional one-bay garage.
“Durango Trail complements its sister neighborhood Durango Ranch, which is also exclusively single-story designs that range in size to approximately 3,853 square feet and to approximately 4,142 square feet with an optional Nevada Room,” said Pardee Homes Regional Sales Director Rob Tuvell.
Homes at Durango Ranch feature optional detached casitas, optional Nevada Rooms in lieu of a covered patio, up to four-bay garages, large kitchens, great rooms and optional RV parking pads. Prices currently start from approximately $449,990.
