Rhodes helps with fundraiser event for Nevada Cancer Institute

Jim and Glynda Rhodes, principals of Las Vegas-based Rhodes Homes, are helping to find a cure for cancer one fundraising event at a time.

The couple is serving as Nevada Cancer Institute's 2007 chairpersons for its sixth annual fundraising gala. The event, dubbed Rock For The Cure, will be held in the Events Center at Mandalay Bay Nov. 15.

"As lifelong Nevadans, we know the work of Nevada Cancer Institute is imperative for the necessary research and support they provide our state," said Glynda Rhodes, who is also chairperson for the Rhodes Homes Charitable Giving Committee.

"We are a better community with Nevada Cancer Institute and Jim and I will do our best to help them succeed."

As part of her duties chairing the organization's largest annual event, Rhodes is helping secure sponsors for tables at the event as well as advertisers in the program.

The event is nearly sold out, she said.

Program journal ads are still available and range from $1,500 to $25,000 depending on ad size and placement.

"We are encouraging vendors and friends of Rhodes Homes to consider participating in this worthwhile event," Glenda Rhodes.

"With cancer the cause of death among one in four Americans, we all know someone who has been personally affected by the disease. Both Jim and I have immediate family members afflicted with cancer. Nevada Cancer Institute gives the people in our communities vital research, education and hope to find a cure," she said.

The Rhodes couple is heavily involved in local nonprofit organizations, including HELP of Southern Nevada, The March of Dimes and Opportunity Village.

In addition to her work with the company, Glynda Rhodes sits on the board of directors for the Clark County Public Education Foundation, Henderson Chamber of Commerce and Opportunity Village.

Rhodes Homes has built more than 6,000 homes in the Las Vegas Valley during the past two decades and is currently developing 16 communities throughout the area with homes to fit every family's lifestyle, according to company officials.

Communities currently selling homes throughout the Las Vegas Valley include the Rhodes Ranch and Tuscany master plans, X-it condominiums, West 57th and Shaylon.

Rhodes Ranch and Tuscany encompass championship golf courses designed by Ted Robinson Jr. as well as parks, walking trails and recreation centers.

The Rhodes Ranch Golf Club in the southwestern Las Vegas Valley has become one of the hottest golf destinations in Las Vegas, according to area players and publications.

The par-72 course was named a Best Value by Vegas Golfer magazine.

The Tuscany Golf Club in Henderson features a 6,906-yard, par 72 course recently named Golf magazine's No. 1 Golf Course in Las Vegas in its annual BBQ (Bang for the Buck Quotient) rankings.

Both Rhodes Ranch and Tuscany also offer 35,000-square-foot recreation centers for residents that include pools, hot tubs, full workout facilities, aerobics rooms, indoor and outdoor basketball, racquetball, tennis, arts and crafts rooms, billiards, conference rooms, social areas, park areas as well as jungle gyms for children.
