Rhodes holds opening for new water park

With a simple pair of scissors, Glynda Rhodes officially opened the new Fun Zone Water Park May 28 at Rhodes Ranch master-planned community in southwestern Las Vegas.

"This is an exciting day for both the residents of Rhodes Ranch and for Rhodes Homes," said Rhodes, vice president of interior and architectural design for the home builder. "We wanted to complete the water park in time for the summer so everyone could use it and enjoy it."

The grand opening was held on Memorial Day, which will mark the official opening of the facility each year. The facility will remain open until Labor Day, Sept. 3.

Clark County Commissioner Susan Brager, who represents District F, which includes Rhodes Ranch, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

"Today is a great day for the residents of Rhodes Ranch. This community already offers so much to its homeowners and the opening of the Fun Zone will only add more value to living here," Brager said.

Nearly 2,000 Rhodes Ranch residents attended the opening of the Fun Zone Water Park. Included in the Fun Zone is a 13,000-square-foot lagoon pool with wading areas, a 10,000-square-foot water park with three speed slides, five kid slides, rope bridges, multiple squirt gun stations and a 1,000-gallon bucket that fills and tips over every five minutes. It also includes a 25-meter lap pool, two eight-person spas, a 12-person group spa, four large covered cabanas, one exterior lighted basketball court, two sand volleyball courts, four lighted tennis courts and a children's playground with activity structures.

Homeowners and visitors to Rhodes Ranch are required to watch a seven-minute safety video prior to receiving access to the Fun Zone. The video runs continuously in The R-Club great room and the front desk staff can assist residents with the necessary information and paperwork.

Also situated on the nearly 7-acre site is the 35,000-square-foot recreation center known as The R-Club. The building opened in the fall of 2005 and includes an indoor workout facility with weights and cardiovascular equipment, a full-length basketball court, two racquetball/handball courts and six billiards tables. In addition to fitness amenities, the facility has social areas that feature three fireplaces along with couches, tables and chairs.

The R-Club at Rhodes Ranch offers a variety of group classes such as Pilates, yoga, kickboxing, core/abs, total body conditioning and circuit training in its group exercise room. Personal trainers are also available by appointment to help homeowners create health and fitness programs geared towards their lifestyles.

Other amenities that Rhodes Ranch residents have access to include a Ted Robinson-designed, 18-hole golf course, a guarded entry gate with 24-hour roving security patrols, and a park-like atmosphere.

Rhodes Homes is selling homes in three neighborhoods -- The Collection, Palms Bay and Pacific Mist -- at Rhodes Ranch.

The Collection, nestled in the Rhodes Ranch golf course community, offers three different series, the Monet, Matisse and Van Gogh.
