Rhodes Homes raises cash for The Public Education Foundation

Glynda Rhodes, Rhodes Homes vice president of interior and architectural design, headed a team that accounted for more than $400,000 of the record $610,000 raised at the recent Change the Future...Make a Difference annual event to benefit The Public Education Foundation.

"I was extremely excited by the successful results," Rhodes said. "Our team put their passion and enthusiasm behind the mission and generated a lot of support for The Public Education Foundation. The community was incredibly responsive to supporting our public schools."

All monies go to improve Clark County public schools, providing books to students and libraries, school supplies and materials to classrooms, and grants for expanding teachers' skills.

The funds also help pay for leadership training for administrators and emergency dental care for students without health insurance.

Additionally, The Foundation offers numerous scholarships to high school seniors each year.

"Glynda's children are in public schools, so she personally understands the importance of a good education with proper funding," said Megan Lovelace, assistant manager to the design team at Rhodes Homes.

"Glynda encouraged her team to raise money and in-kind donations. She suggested each of the 27 members of her fundraising team set their individual goals to either donate or raise at least $5,000. Her job was to motivate the team, as well as raise funds on her own and she was making phone calls to the very last minute before the campaign ended," Lovelace said.

The Public Education Foundation, an organization that Rhodes Homes has worked closely with for years, develops and implements school improvement initiatives, creates model programs, awards grants and scholarships and leverages community resources to support, strengthen and improve public education in Clark County.
