Rhodes Homes supports Las Vegas schools with fundraising event

Rhodes Homes hosted the Second Annual Best Foot Forward charity event for The Public Education Foundation. The event was held March 15 at the Donald J. Pliner signature store in the Forum Shops at Caesars.

The builder supported the fundraiser again this year, after last year's event raised significant funds for the organization.

Rhodes Homes' Vice President of interior and architectural design, and Public Education Foundation board member, Glynda Rhodes was on the host committee again for this year's event, and said she was overjoyed that the event was once again attended by designer, Donald J Pliner and his wife, model Lisa Pliner.

"We were confident that we could build upon the success of last year's event, and given the number of people that attended, and the funds raised, this year's efforts were a tremendous success," Rhodes said.

"The Best Foot Forward event is a wonderful way to give people an opportunity to help benefit our community's schools."

Rhodes hosted the event, along with Christina Bird, Dr. Donielle Freedman, Olga Lyles, Vince Pompei, Lori Rogich and Lynn Weidner.

Twenty percent of the proceeds from sales earned at the Pliner boutique during the day of the event were donated to The Public Education Foundation.

"We appreciate Donald J. Pliner, Glynda Rhodes and all of our hosts for their commitment to public education," said Judi Steele, president of The Foundation.

"The Public Education Foundation is committed to improving the quality of teaching and learning in Southern Nevada and we rely heavily on the generosity and hard work of our community."

Donald J. Pliner is known for his designs in footwear that have been worn by celebrities, including singer Justin Timberlake, model-actress-singer Carmen Electra and basketball player Shaquille O'Neal.

Pliner presented his spring collection and spoke about the inspiration for his designs, offering details about the construction of his footwear and handbags.

"Having Donald J. Pliner on hand to meet with everyone brought a tremendous level of excitement to the event," Rhodes said.

"In addition to being a world-class designer and businessman, Mr. Pliner is a dedicated philanthropist and we were pleased to be involved."

The Public Education Foundation develops and implements school improvement initiatives, creates model programs, awards grants and scholarships, and leverages community resources to support, strengthen and improve public education in Clark County.
