Rhodes partners with foundation

As steadfast supporters of education in Las Vegas, Rhodes Homes is once again partnering with The Public Education Foundation and footwear designer Donald J Pliner to host a charity event inside the Donald J Pliner boutique at The Forum Shops at Caesars March 28 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Pliner will make a personal appearance at his signature store during the event to unveil his 2008 spring/summer shoe collection. Twenty percent of proceeds from all sales that day will be donated to The Public Education Foundation and the Donald J Pliner Peace For The Children Foundation.

Glynda Rhodes, vice president of interior and architectural design at Rhodes Homes, was instrumental in bringing The Public Education Foundation and Donald J Pliner together for the first fundraising event held three years ago and is again serving on the host committee for this year's event.

As a Public Education Foundation board member, Rhodes said she is excited that the event has become so well attended and a huge success for the foundation.

"Last year's event raised significant funds for The Public Education Foundation and I'm proud to be part of such a fun event that gives people the opportunity to show their support for public education in Las Vegas," she said. "Having Donald J Pliner on hand during the event to meet with the attendees definitely adds a tremendous level of excitement. In addition to being an iconic designer, Mr. Pliner is a dedicated philanthropist, and we are pleased to be involved."

The Public Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to delivering public-private resources to meet the challenges of educating a growing and diverse Southern Nevada population. Pliner is known around the world for his designs that have been worn by celebrities including Justin Timberlake, Carmen Electra and Shaquille O'Neal. The Donald J Pliner Peace For The Children Foundation was created to channel funds to deserving projects and initiatives that advance peace, care and welfare to children in need. Every month Pliner donates a portion of sales from the company to the foundation.
