Road Trip! A good walk (and golf) at Bandon Dunes

I've been lucky to have golfed some of the finest golf courses in America. Without doubt, Bandon Dunes belongs among them.

We played Pacific Dunes, the second course built here. Several holes run along the ocean, making for some spectacular scenery. Temps in the mid 50s, light wind and no rain. A great day for this time of the year. The links course contains some of the more fierce bunkers American golfers will see. When the sand trap you hit in has stairs to get down in it, you know you're in trouble.

I'll be putting Bandon Dunes on my "must return" list.

This is the down season here because of the weather. We were lucky to catch such a good day. Because of the off season, we caught the off-season rate. Room: $135 per night. Golf: $90. It'll be double that (at least) in the high season. But even that is well worth this golf destination.

The Complete Las Vegan was greeted by Dane at the bag drop. Dane spent a season caddying at Southern Highlands. We had many common acquaintances. And my caddy for the day was Brad, a former Reno resident. It's always nice to meet fellow Nevadans on the road.

A good portion of the Pacific Dunes course at Bandon Dunes runs along the ocean.

If you must know, yes I did hit the green on this par 4. The question you should be asking, however, is was this my 2nd shot or my third? Attention Las Vegas golfers -- this is a must play golf destination for westerners.
