Road Trip! At the top of California

We left Napa at 0-dark-thirty, driving up the gut of wine country. A drive spectacular in it's own way.

We took back country highways to the Mendocino Coast and then spend time on The Avenue of Giants -- grove after grove of Redwoods.

Still no rain on the trip. Today's temps were a cool 55 with wind off the ocean.

We then pushed our way up the 101 to overnight in Crescent City, CA.

That makes for an easier drive tomorrow for Bandon Dunes and what I expect to be a fine morning of golf the following today.

Do you think the wind blows on the Mendocino Coast? This beach is walkable from the road. Hundreds of sand dollars on it.

I don't know how many places like this exist along America's highways, but here's a "good" one.

The Mini-Cooper on The Avenue of Giants.

The view from our hotel in Crescent City, CA. Bundle up!
