Romney is a dork — go with it
As the GOP national convention begins, let there be no illusions. Mitt Romney is a dork. Instead of getting mad about it, Republicans should just go with it. In a world of Obama double-speak in which "cool" substitutes for substance and feel-good rhetoric is supposed to soothe economic suffering, it's refreshing to have a candidate like Romney.
He isn't cool. He tells the truth, even when it is uncomfortable. He's a straight-laced businessman who, contrary to the current president, knows a few things about the economy and actually worked for a living before running for president. If I were running the GOP convention, that's how I'd portray the candidate.
"Vote Mitt Romney -- A dork who can fix the economy."
Enjoy this clip from Jimmy Fallon spoofing the stiff Romney persona. And be glad. Or, would you really rather stick with "cool" and "incompetent."
PS -- I am looking forward to Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval's speech at the convention. It should be a good introduction to the nation of a governor who may be going places.
